Alternative Therapy For Lyme Disease , Epstein Barr Virus and Coinfections of Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection that was originally believed to be primarily transmitted through the bite of infected ticks. Since then, Lyme has become a worldwide epidemic which many now believe can be transmitted by other vectors such as spiders, mosquitoes and fleas. It is know to be transferred in utero from mother to baby . There is a now a growing number of researchers who believe it can also be transmitted sexually.
When Lyme is detected early and treated it can lead to full recovery, however, many patients face challenges with chronic and persistent symptoms when diagnosis is delayed.
Lyme Disease is multifaceted by nature. This condition can affect multiple body systems, leading to a wide array of symptoms that may include:
Chronic Lyme Disease, occurs when symptoms persist after standard antibiotic treatment. Chronic Lyme can be very challenging to diagnose and treat using conventional methods alone.
Lyme Disease can significantly impact overall health and quality of life.
Lyme Disease is caused by the bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi. The disease was first recognized in 1975 in Lyme, Connecticut, hence its name. In the summer of 1976, The New York Times ran a story: “A New Type of Arthritis Found in Lyme.” Documenting the dozens of children, who were experiencing painful swelling in their joints, the article reported that doctors and scientists believed they had discovered a new “form of arthritis caused by a virus carried by an insect or other biting arthropod such as a tick.
Lyme Disease has since become one of the most common vector-borne diseases in the United States and Europe. Many people can be carriers of Lyme disease and be totally asymptomatic for years.
If Lyme is left untreated or diagnosed late, it can develop into a chronic, multi-system illness affecting the joints, heart, and nervous system.
Lyme Disease is often referred to as “The Great Imitator” due to its ability to mimic symptoms of many other conditions.  This characteristic can make diagnosis challenging and lead to misdiagnosis or delayed treatment.

Conditions that Lyme Disease can imitate include:

Viral, fungal and parasitic infections,  beyond what is normally associated with Lyme disease, as well as coinfections such as Epstein Barr Virus, make Lyme Disease very complex and difficult to treat.
